Responsibilities

Mary Dwyer Pembroke, Esq. is a Senior Managing Director for NexGen Capital Advisors, LLC, NexGen Capital Consultants, LLC and NexGen Capital Investors, LLC (collectively, NexGen Affiliates).  She is also a principal of NexGen Capital Partners, LLC, the parent of the NexGen Affiliates, and is responsible for leading the communications activities.

Experience

Ms. Pembroke spent the past 26 years as a professional advocate in Washington, DC, and most recently served as Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff for the Council on Foundations, the largest membership organization serving philanthropy.  Previously, she served as a state and federal government relations professional for Fortune 50 financial services corporations such as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) and Citibank, FSB.  At Freddie Mac, she led a successful lobbying effort which saved Freddie Mac $300 million in fees over a one-year period.  While serving as the point person for the CRA regulatory process at Citibank, FSB, the bank was awarded the highest possible rating.  During her tenure on Capitol Hill, Ms. Pembroke was counsel to the Housing and Urban Affairs Subcommittee of the United States Senate Banking Committee.

Education

Ms. Pembroke obtained a BA degree in history, political science and French and a JD degree from Marquette University and is licensed to practice before the Wisconsin and Federal bars.

Certifications

Ms. Pembroke is Series 24, 7 and 66 licensed.

Civic and Professional Involvement

Ms. Pembroke currently serves as Chair for the International Women’s Democracy Center and is a former board member of First Voice International.  She is also a member and past president of Women in Housing and Finance in Washington, DC.  Ms. Pembroke was an inaugural independent director on the board of New York Mortgage Trust, a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust.
